Description: An early Saturday morning. Town Talk is closed today so Mike and I head over to a new cafe called Maria's after our 7:30 workout at the YW.
I hadn't been to Maria's before, but it has a sign out front proclaiming that it was voted to have the best pancakes in the Twin Cities. My kind of place... Oddly enough, Marias is located on Franklin right by the house Kris and I first lived in together. It's great they finally have a good restaurant there.
Mike and I both ordered the Cachapas Venezolanas, whole corn pancakes. They are served with a white powered Mexican cheese you sprinkle on instead of syrup. They are great and I'll be back.

Description: Mr. Jung greeted me as I arrived at the counter this morning. It had been less than 8 hours since we had parted at the Garmana perfomance the night before.
Envying the diner's wall-to-wall stainless interior we played with the idea of redoing our home kitchens in similar materials. Neither Mark nor I have ever worked in food service and felt that a stainless environment might satisfy any lingering inclinations we might have in that direction.
This morning the diner was filled with parents and small children which completely changed the ambiance of the the otherwise quiet counter.

Description: Today I'm joined by Kris and Willy Lee for an all out pancake feast. Most of the conversation revolves around Willy's secret project which can not be revealed here.
An interesting conversation transpires between our waitress and a customer when the customer (above left) says "... your all about pancakes." The waitress replies sarcastically "Yea, and when I go to sleep at night they all have your faces on them and they're chasing me." Walking away, over her shoulder she adds "Luckily I always get away".

Description: Media Mogul Mike Dust met me at the counter this morning. We traded stories of diner experiences nationwide and talked about his new 1987 Black BMW which was parked right outside the front window.

Description: Met out in front of the dinner by Tammy and Jay Pearlman who join me for breakfast and tell me of their recent European journeys. Ordered the famous "Pancake Surprise" which consists of two eggs between two cakes. Delicious!!!
Best of all Jay picks up my tab. I owe him one...

Description: A somber rainy morning. A retired couple and a blind woman are seated to the left of me. Contractors are making deals with each other to the right of me. I order the big stack and eat the whole thing. It's too much for a non-breakfast eater like me to take. I need a nap.

Description: Sharing these multigrain beauties with my two nephews, William - 6 and Stuart - 7. I was served one cake at a time. As expected, I had the darkest ones of the bunch.
