How were The 52 Projects by Week
selected from the 164 submitted?
Drawing upon their extensive life experience, time tested scientific methodologies,
museum quality curatorial standards, sacred Druid ritual and above all their
mutual interest in testing and tormenting me, the two curators selected the
submissions they liked the most.
Do I know which Projects
were selected?
No, I do not know what projects were selected nor who submitted those selected.
I am obviously aware of and greatly thankful to all of the folks who choose
to participate in the project by submitting one or more ideas (see
Submitting Participants).
How do I know what
to do each week?
Each Saturday I am presented with an envelope containing the idea which I
will be exploring for the next 7 days, starting midnight Sunday morning. While
giving me up to 24 hours to prepare, this week by week schedule was selected
in order to control my natural tendencies to worry and plan. Check the "This
Week's Project" section of this site to read about the idea I will
be exploring this week.
How will 52@40 be
documented?
While the project itself puts a great deal of demand upon my time, I will
be doing my best to document every aspect of this experience. Ideally I would
post all of the documentation on this site on a daily basis. Unfortunately,
this would probably take up more time than the project itself. I am making
every effort to post occasional journal entries, photos and other goodies
along the way. I am currently planning on using my 41st year to organize and
formally publish the entire project. I welcome your ideas in this regard.
When will I know who
submitted the projects I have carried out?
Like it or not, I will not be privy to the the names of the contributors until
October 14, 2001. This "blind" approach eliminates any bias I may
have towards a specific contributor while simultaneously protecting all contributors
from any form of mental or physical retaliation I may be tempted to initiate
when the going gets a bit rough. On October 14, 2001 all of the contributors
will be invited to my 41st birthday party. If they choose to reveal their
project ideas to me at that time, they will be allowed to do so.
When will all of the
un-selected ideas be posted?
The full list of 164 project ideas will be posted at the end of the project
October 14, 2001.
