Invitation to the Project

Dear Family & Friend(s),
On October 14th, 2000 I will officially enter the 40th year of my life. To celebrate this milestone I am devoting the next year of my life to a unique project in self exploration. Through this project I plan to conduct 52 one week analyses and creative experiments to help me better understand myself and explore opportunities I might otherwise have avoided or overlooked.
A key component of the "52@40" project are the contributions of ideas and experiences from my friends and family. I would consider it a great birthday gift if you would contribute one or more ideas to my project.
At this point you're
probably wondering what kind of ideas I am looking for. Ideas should take
one hour or less per day, they can consist of physical or mental activities
or both. Project related activities can be spread throughout the day or can
take place in a solid block of time. They should be designed to enlighten,
entertain or effect me in some positive way. Here are a few examples:
1) I might introduce myself to a total stranger each day, note their name,
the time, the place, a short description of them, and ask them to take a picture
of me.
2) Everything I eat and drink might be weighed, measured and recorded on a
daily chart.
Kris, my wife and Roger, my brother will serve as curators during the length of 52@40 project. They will collect all of the submitted ideas (including their own), then edit and structure the entire 52 week experiment. The names of those people submitting project ideas will remain secret until after the project is completed in October of 2001. Not all ideas submitted may be used due to scheduling and other criteria.
A 52@40 project web site will be set up at (www.sandboxstudios.org/52at40). This site will be used to document the project and will contain the project schedule as well as a full listing of all the contributors and a separate list of all the ideas submitted.
Please use the enclosed form to submit your ideas and return it using the self addressed stamped envelope no later than September 30th. Your idea descriptions can be as general or as specific as you like. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions. I hope you will contribute your ideas to the project and follow it as in unfolds throughout my 40th year.
